Vilde Frang was unanimously awarded the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award in 2012 and made her debut with the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Bernard Haitink, at the Lucerne Festival. Among her most significant engagements in recent seasons and upcoming performances are concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Orchestre de Paris, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo, collaborating with conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Zubin Mehta, Manfred Honeck, Iván Fischer, René Jacobs, Teodor Currentzis, Daniel Harding, Vladimir Jurowski, Philippe Herreweghe, Kirill Petrenko, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paavo Järvi, Gustavo Dudamel, and Sir Simon Rattle. He is a regular guest at prestigious international festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Verbier Festival, the Lucerne Festival, the BBC Proms in London, the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Lockenhaus Festival, the Mostly Mozart Festival, the Prague Spring International Music Festival, and the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest. As a soloist and recitalist, she has performed in concert halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna, Wigmore Hall and the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Tonhalle in Zurich, BOZAR in Brussels, the Rudolfinum in Prague, and the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, as well as in the Vancouver Recital Series, the Boston Celebrity Series, San Francisco Performances, and at Carnegie Hall in New York. As an exclusive artist for Warner Classics, Vilde Frang has released recordings that have won numerous international awards, including the Grand Prix du Disque, the Edison Klassiek Award, the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis, the Diapason d’Or, and the Gramophone Award. Born in Norway in 1986, she was invited by Mariss Jansons to make her debut with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of just twelve. She studied at the Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt in Oslo, with Kolja Blacher at the Musikhochschule in Hamburg, and with Ana Chumachenco at the Kronberg Academy. In 2007, she was a fellow of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust, working with Mitsuko Uchida, and from 2003 to 2009 she received support from the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation. Vilde Frang plays the 1734 Guarneri del Gesù “Rode,” generously loaned to her by a European patron.
