A trio of young people for two all-time masterpieces and a “classic” for tomorrow

Thursday, Aug. 7 at the Church of St. Roch

Two masterpieces of classical music literature and a 1993 work to be consigned to the future. With this program and three exceptional performers, the 42nd edition of AsiagoFestival, an appointment with great mu- sica proposed strictly at free admission by the Associazione Amici della Musica di Asiago named after Fiorella Benetti Brazzale, comes into full swing on Thursday, Aug. 7 (9 p.m.).
Three young artists with many years of international experience will be on stage at the Church of San Rocco in Asiago, to perform pieces by Schubert, Beethoven and Kryzstof Meyer (1943), a Polish composer who is the guest of this forty-second edition of the Fe- stival, as part of which he will meet the public on Sunday, August 10 (10:30 a.m. pres- so the Council Chamber of the Asiago Town Hall). The two masterpieces appreciated for centuries (Schubert’s Trio in B-flat Major D581 and Trio Op. 9, No. 3 in C minor by Beethoven) and a page of new music (Fourth movement from Meyer’s “Trio for Strings”) will be performed by an exceptional String Trio, composed of the talented Cagliari- tan violinist Anna Tifu, by Polish violist Rysard Groblewski and Turin cellist Claudio Pasceri, who will meet on the altar-stage of the central asiaghese chie- sa to kick off two intense weeks of exquisite concerts in Asiago.
THE PROTAGONISTS
“Anna Tifu: One of the most extraordinary talents I have come across. What impresses, in a special way, is the maturity of sound, the capacity for understanding and the speed of learning, which are absolutely out of the ordinary”: thus Salvatore Accardo, her teacher, reports on her. “She cannot be considered a child prodigy because she adds to her extraordinary technique the maturity of expression and phrasing of a true musician,” adds renowned pianist R. Lupu, after hearing her at a very young age. Born in Cagliari in 1986, she undertook the study of the violin under the guidance of her father at the age of six and, after distinguishing herself at a very young age in numerous national and international festivals and competitions, she graduated at the age of 15 from the “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina” Conservatory of Cagliari with top honors, praise and special mention. Committed to an international concert career, last September she won first prize at the “George Enescu” International Competition in Bucharest. Anna Tifu plays a Carlo Bergonzi (Cremona, 1739) violin, known as “ex Mi- scha Piastro,” offered by the ProCanale Foundation of Milan.
Ryzard Groblewski, born in Warsaw in 1993, began his training at the age of 7. He continued his further education under Piotr Reicher at the Warsaw Academy of Mu- sica, benefiting from the teachings of Kim Kashkashian, Atar Arad, Pa- mela Frank, Miriam Fried et Ralf Gothoni. A participant in numerous competitions (Portschach, Essen, Beld), he won the First Prize at the Geneva Competition in 2005, as well as the Audience Prize after winning 2nd at the ARD International Competition in Munich in 2004. He performs regularly in Poland, Germany, Au- stria, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Spain as a solo alto as well as in recitals, accompanied on piano by Kataszyna Jakoswska or in chamber music, from a tour in Germany with Quatour Ebene. In 2005 he made his U.S. debut by participating in the Ravinia Festival and performed the first revised version of a Bartok con- cern in Poland. Since 2001, he has been regularly supported by a grant from Poland’s Ministry of Culture for his major achievements. Benefiting from the engagements offered by the Geneva Competition to its graduates, Ryszard Grobleswi plans the edition of a first disc.
Claudio Pasceri, born in Turin in 1976, graduated under Dario Destefano, obtaining the highest marks and the prize as the best diploma of that ‘happen- ing year. He later studied in Cremona at the ” W. Stauffer” with Rocco Filippi- ni and in Augsburg at the Hochschule fuer Musik with Julius Berger. He won several prizes and scholarships, among others at the ” Sommer Akademie” of the Mozarteum in Sali- sburg, at the master classes of the ” Festival delle Nazioni” in Città di Castello and at the Meisterklassen “Schloss Oettingen”.
After winning numerous competitions and playing alongside artists such as Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Giuranna and Rocco Filippini, since 1999 he has been a member of the Orchestra da Ca- mera Italiana conducted by Salvatore Accardo , with which he has toured the United States , France , Germany , Turkey etc., also collaborating as first cello. Since 2000 he has been one of the scholarship holders of ” De Sono – Association for Music,” which supports young Italian musicians.
