Soyeon Ahn
Soyeon Ahn completed her studies in South Korea, graduating from Sunhwa Arts Middle School, Sunhwa Arts High School and later Sookmyung Women’s University. She then continued her education in Germany, earning a Diplom from the Augsburg Musikhochschule and the prestigious Meisterklassendiplom at the Nuremberg Musikhochschule. Throughout her career, Soyeon Ahn has distinguished herself in numerous competitions, earning awards at the Nanpa Music Competition, Busan Music Competition and Hanmi Music Competition.
Her versatility and special interest in contemporary music have led her to collaborate with world-renowned composers, including Sofia Gubaidulina, with whom she took part in the Waternight project in Augsburg. She has also participated in the Werkschau Frangis Ali-Sadepresso the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the 25th Internationalen Weingartener Tage für Neue Musik, as well as the Festival International de Musique de Chambre in Chalais, France, where she also made a record recording.
Soyeon Ahn has recorded works by Italian composer Manuela Kerer and released several albums, including one in collaboration with Austrian public broadcaster ORF. Other of his recording works have been released on the Solo Musica label, attesting to his active presence on the European music scene. Parallel to his concert career, he is passionately dedicated to teaching. She has served as an adjunct lecturer at Hyupsung University and has also taught at Sookmyung Women’s University and Baekseok Arts University. He is currently a lecturer at Mokwon University and teaches cello at Sunhwa Arts Middle and High School, Gyewon Arts High School and Dukwon Arts High School.
He is a member of Ensemble Jeong, the contemporary music group Trois C, and the prestigious German cello-only ensemble Cello Passionato, with whom he regularly participates in international tours and projects.
