Mazzarotto Sara

Born in Venice in 1997, Sara graduated cum laude from the “C. Pollini” Conservatory in Padua at the age of 18. After earning her master’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under Ilya Grubert, she continued her studies at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Sonig Tchakerian, graduating with the highest honors and receiving the top diploma of the year. For five years, she studied under Salvatore Accardo at the Stauffer Center for Strings in Cremona and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. She has also attended masterclasses with Pavel Vernikov, Gyorgy Pauk, Liviu Prunaru, Eliot Lawson, Maria Milstein, Mathieu van Bellen, Piero Toso, Marco Rizzi, Michael Barenboim, and Massimo Quarta. A prize winner at prestigious violin competitions such as the Vasco Abadjiev and Emil Kamilarov in Sofia, the Arthur Grumiaux in Brussels, and the InterCordes in Paris, Sara Mazzarotto performs a repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary music. Sara has performed the concertos by A. Vivaldi RV 212 and RV 547, G. Tartini’s D96, W. A. Mozart’s K219, works by J. Brahms, P. I. Tchaikovsky, D. Tabakova, and G. Aloisi (2026, world premiere) as a soloist with an orchestra. She recently won first prize at the “Città di Treviso” International Competition, first prize in the “Nuove Musiche” category at the “Città di Palmanova” International Competition, and an Honorable Mention at the 41st Valentino Bucchi Prize. Particularly drawn to the chamber music repertoire and contemporary works, she has performed alongside artists such as Salvatore Accardo, Sonig Tchakerian, Ivan Rabaglia, Mario Brunello, Julius Berger, Claudio Pasceri, Andrea Lucchesini, and Danilo Rossi, as well as with members of the orchestra of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala and the Ensemble Intercontemporain of Paris. She is the dedicatee and performer of several world premieres for solo instrument. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician for prestigious institutions such as IRCAM ManiFeste in Paris, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Beirut, the Festival de Mùsica de Canarias, the Italian Cultural Institute in Lima, Batumi State University in Georgia, the Croatian Composers’ Society – Cantus Ansambl in Zagreb, Impuls Festival in Graz, Amici della Musica in Padua, Amici della Musica in Perugia, Settimane Musicali del Teatro Olimpico, Asiagofestival, Portogruaro Music Festival, EstOvest Festival, Echi Festival in Arezzo, Teatro Verdi in Pordenone, Trame Sonore in Mantua, Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, Divertimento Ensemble in Milan, Fabrica Research Center in Treviso, TriesteClassica, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Pontino Festival in Latina, ArteScienza in Rome, Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano, Contrasti Festival in Trento, and the Brescia Opera Festival, among others. He performs in a duo with pianist Maria Iaiza, focusing particularly on the 20th-century repertoire and contemporary music. Encounters with maestros Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Canino, and Claudio Ambrosini were pivotal to his musical development. Since 2022, she has been a member of the Opificio Sonoro ensemble, with which she participated in the recording of the album “Sciarrino: Chamber Music” for Brilliant Classics. She has also collaborated on several occasions with ensembles such as the mdi ensemble in Milan and the Ex-Novo ensemble in Venice. In 2026, she was invited to join the Ulysses Ensemble, an international project dedicated to contemporary music developed in collaboration with the Divertimento Ensemble in Milan, the Ensemble Intercontemporain and ManiFeste in Paris, and the Mixtur Festival in Barcelona. Active in the orchestral field as well, she has served as concertmaster since a very young age, collaborating with various chamber and symphony orchestras. Since 2022, he has been playing as a section leader with the Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta. During the 2019–20 season, he collaborated with the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, performing in prestigious venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Nationale Opera & Ballet, and with the Nederlands Kamer Orkest at the Muziekgebouw in the Dutch capital. His professional experience in orchestras, including as concertmaster, includes collaborations with the Blaricum Festival Orchestra, the Orchestra da Camera Italiana, the Orchestra d’Archi Italiana, the Filarmonica del Teatro Regio di Torino, the Calamani Orchestra, and the Italian Youth Orchestra. He has also served as concertmaster in the jazz project “Nights on Earth” with composer, arranger, and conductor Vince Mendoza in Amsterdam. Since 2022, she has been a member of the Artistic Committee of the EstOvest Festival. She plays a violin made by Alessandra Pedota (Cremona, 2020).
