Sergio Gasparella
Harpsichordist and conductor. He studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague where he had the opportunity to specialize with Patrick Ayrton, Fabio Bonizzoni, Wolfgang Glüxam and Ton Koopman. He then attended the two-year course in Harpsichord – Curvature in harpsichord and organ practice for Basso Continuo at the Conservatory of Padua with Roberto Loreggian ,graduating with highest honors, cum laude and mention. In March this year Da Vinci Classics published Apocryphal Works for Keyboard I, his first album as soloist on harpsichord with works attributed to J.S.Bach. In July he was invited as conductor and harpsichordist to the second International Youth Baroque Orchestra Meeting organized by the Innsbruck Early Music Festival.
In 2023 he collaborated with Verità Baroque Ensemble for the recording of The German Album and The Italian Album published by the Evil Penguin Classic label. He later participated as continuist in the production of The Marriage of Figaro with the Spira Mirabilis Orchestra. Since the same year he has been accompanist on harpsichord for early music classes at the Conservatory of Vicenza. As a continuist, he has collaborated with I Musicali Affetti, Academia di Musica Antica di Brunico, Academia Montis Regalis, Balthasar Neumann Academy, Austria Barock Akademie, Verità Ensemble, MokkaBarock, Juilliard415 and for the following festivals: Weimar Festwoche festival, Barockfestspiele Bad Arolsen, Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, Asiagofestival and Grandezze & Meraviglie. In 2014 he began the study of ancient keyboard instruments thanks to Lorenzo Feder and Takashi Watanabe. In 2013 he received his bachelor’s degree in conducting under Giancarlo Andretta at the Conservatory of Vicenza. He graduated in 2010 in piano with Romano Zancan dall’Alba.
Along his training he had the opportunity to conduct the orchestra of Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Argovia Philharmonic Orchestra, Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra della Spettabile Reggenza. Also interested in contemporary repertoire, he has had the opportunity to conduct world premieres by Giovanni Bonato, Alissa Firsova and Markus Schmitt. He is artistic director of Crescere in Musica APS with which he develops musical and educational programs for students, especially in repertoires where a historically informed performance practice can be explored.
