Camerata RCO is a chamber ensemble, consisting of first parts and members of the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, named for the celebrated concert hall in Amsterdam.
The desire to found a chamber ensemble arose from the musicians’ desire to extend their shared and established experience as orchestral professors to the field of chamber music as well. The extraordinary essibility of the ensembles with which Camerata RCO presents itself allows them to explore the full range of musical literature, from Baroque to contemporary music. Despite their recent formation, dating back to 2009, the Camerata of the Royal Concertgebouw has already performed numerous concerts in Vienna, Taipei, Seoul, Rome (Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti), Amsterdam, Bergen (NO, Grieg in Bergen Festival), Turin (Unione Musicale), Asti, Alencon (FR, Septembre Musicale de l’Orne), as well as recorded for national broadcasters such as in Italy for RAI Radio 3 and the Classica TV channel.
December 2012 saw the release of the first CD, produced with record label Gutman Records and particularly dedicated to Christmas (Corelli Concerto Grosso).
September 2013 saw the release of the second CD, Sweet Dumplings MOZART and Cheese Strudel MENDELSSOHN and, among others, in 2014 directed by Gustavo Gimeno a CD with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 in transcription for chamber ensemble.
