Silvia Careddu
Winner of the Premier Grand Prix à l’unanimité and the Prix du Public at the prestigious Geneva International Competition, Silvia Careddu is currently first flute of the Orchestre National de France in Paris, and has held the same position with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Konzerthausorchester in Berlin, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Filarmonica A. Toscanini.In addition to collaborating with leading European orchestras (including the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra), since 2012 she has been invited to collaborate as a “Künstlerische Partnerin” with the Kammerakademie Potsdam, winner in 2015 and 2022 of the Opus Preis for the category “Orchester des Jahres.”
Silvia Careddu is also a founding member of the Alban Berg Ensemble Wien, a chamber group with which she records for Deutsche Grammophon and Decca.
She is regularly invited to major international festivals, including Salzburg Festspiel, Bad Kissingen Festspiel, Cartagena Music Festival, Festival Berlioz, Australian National Academy for Music, Schleswig Holstein, Festival des Arcs, Bürgenstock Momenten, Festival de Pollenca, Festival de Salon, Musiktage Mondsee, Riva del Garda, Hitzacker Festival, Flautissimo, Japan Flute Convention, NFA-American Flute Convention, AFE-Spanish Flute Convention, Festival de Colmar, Styriarte, Festival de Bellerive, Patmos Music Festival, Chania Chamber Music Festival, Spinacorona).
Silvia Careddu was recently appointed Professor of Flute at the Zurich University of the Arts (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste – ZHdK) and teaches at the Royal Academy of Music in London as Visiting Professor and at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. From 2011 to 2022, she was Professor of Flute at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler ” (Berlin) and at the Barenboim-Said Akademie (Berlin).
In addition to giving Masterclasses in Europe and Asia, she is invited to join and chair juries of ‘important international competitions (Concours de Genève, A. Nicolet Competition, Abbado Prize, Concours M. Larrieu, Crussell Flute Competition, Prag Spring International Competition, Kobe International Flute Competition).
During the 2024/2025 concert season, Silvia will be the Artist in Residence of the Banatul Philharmonic, in Timisoara, Romania.
