He studied at the Conservatory of Vicenza, obtaining a Diploma in clarinet with highest honors in 1993. He studied with M.° F. Meloni and G. Sobrino, attended master classes with M.° K. Leister, T. Friedli, W. Boeykens, A.Carbonare and with G. Guglielmo and P. Borgonovo for chamber music. In 1991 and 1992 he was selected as first clarinet of the Orchestra “Jeunesses Musicales de Suisse” (Switzerland). Also in 1992 he was selected as first clarinet of the “Opernorchester des 42. Internationalen – Jugend – Festspieltreffens” in Bayreuth (Germany) with whom he toured Switzerland and Germany and recorded for German radio
“Bayerischen Rundfunk.” In 1998 he was selected as the first clarinet of the “Giovane Sinfonietta Italiana” Orchestra. From 1992 to 2014 he played in the Orchestra of the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. He has collaborated and collaborates with the following orchestras: Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, Orchestra dell’Arena di Verona, Orchestra Sinfonica nazionale della RAI, Orchestra Sinfonica “G. Verdi” di Milano, Orchestra del Teatro di Trieste, Orchestra del Festival di Brescia e Bergamo, Orchestra del Teatro di Genova, Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta, Orchestra Jupiter, Orchestra Filarmonica di
Verona. He has played under the direction of conductors such as Giulini, Rostropovich, Chailly, Caetani, Jurowsky, Gelmetti, Ceccato, Marin, Andretta, Bisanti, Battistoni, F. M. Bressan and others.
In 1998 he was 1st eligible for the audition called by the Ente Lirico “Arena di Verona”(cl. bass); in 1999 he was 1st eligible for both clarinet and bass clarinet at the audition called by the Ente Lirico “Arena di Verona “and in 2001 I got 1st place for bass clarinet audition. Eligible for the role of bass cl. also at the Teatro di Trieste (2009) and the Orchestra del Teatro della Scala (2010).
He won the following prizes: 2nd Prize National Competition “F. Schubert” (1990); 1st Prize National Musical Review “In the Gardens of Aulos” in Rimini (1992); 2nd Prize European Musical Competition “City of Moncalieri” (1993) and 2nd Prize in 1998; 3rd Prize National Musical Competition “City of Pistoia” (1994). In 1994 he won an EEC scholarship to attend the Saluzzo High Musical Perfection courses.
He has given concerts for many important Italian and foreign Music Associations, with special attention to the production of the 20th century, obtaining special appreciation from composer Fabio Vacchi for the performance (Italian premiere) of some of his works. He has recorded several CDs, with music by L. Berio, S. Prokofiev, F. Donatoni, G. Bonato, F. Erle for the houses “Opus Avantra”, “Velut Luna”, “RivoAlto”; in 1999, he participated as a solo instrumentalist in the recording of a CD with jazz musician S. Tasca and the group “Schola S. Rocco,” which received top honors (” as top”) in the English magazine “Audiophile Sound” and four-star reviews in “Amadeus.” He has made several tours in the USA with the group “Interensemble” from Padua, playing as a soloist (pieces by F. Donatoni , L. Berio and G. Scelsi) in prestigious venues such as New York University, Massachusets University and others.
He is a founding member of the “Ensemble Musagete,” a group with which he has been delving into the chamber music repertoire of the 19th and 20th centuries for many years, with which he has performed several times live on Rai Radio Tre (Concerti del Quirinale) and with which he has recorded several records (Beethoven’s Septet, Cambini’s Quintet, etc.) that have been excellently reviewed by specialized magazines.
He was called as adjunct bass cl. in a tour of Italy by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra (2006). Since 1994, he has been a clarinet teacher at Schools with Musical Address. In addition to his activity as a clarinetist, he also performs in concerts as a singer (bass voice), working as a soloist with important conductors in the baroque and classical and contemporary repertoire.
