Sara Mazzarotto
Born in Venice in 1997, Sara Mazzarotto studied at the Conservatorio “C. Pollini” in Padua in Sonig Tchakerian’s violin class, where she graduated at the age of 18 with top marks cum laude. She continued her studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and obtained her master diplome under the guidance of Maestros Ilya Grubert and Maria Milstein. Since 2020 he has been attending master classes taught by Maestro Salvatore Accardo at the Walter Stauffer Academy in Cremona and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, and since 2022 he has been studying at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Sonig Tchakerian’s violin class. He has also attended master classes by Eliot Lawson, Pavel Vernikov, Gyorgy Pauk, Liviu Prunaru, Mathieu van Bellen, Piero Toso, Marco Rizzi, Michael Barenboim and Massimo Quarta.
Winner of prizes in prestigious violin competitions such as the Vasco Abadjiev and the Emil Kamilarov in Sofia and the InterCordes in Paris, Sara Mazzarotto attends a repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the music of today. In 2023 she received major awards at the North International Music Competition and the Riccardo Cerocchi Prize, and in 2024 she won the first New Music Prize at the City of Palmanova Int.le Competition.
Sara has played Vivaldi’s concertos RV 212 and RV 547, Tartini’s D96, Mozart’s concertos in A major, Brahms’ and Tchaikovsky’s concertos as soloist with orchestra, and recorded Debussy’s Sonata with Indonesian pianist Stephanus Harsono.
Particularly attracted to chamber repertoire and contemporary production, she has performed alongside artists such as Salvatore Accardo, Andrea Lucchesini, Ivan Rabaglia, Julius Berger, Antonio Ballista, Johannes Fleischmann, Claudio Pasceri, Adrian Pinzaru, with members of the orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris. She has been invited to the Portogruaro Music Festival, at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Beirut, Asiagofestival, Friends of Music in Padua, EstOvest Festival in Turin, ECHI Festival in Arezzo, Friends of Music in Perugia, Teatro Verdi Pordenone, Italian Institute of Culture in Lima, Settimane Musicali del Teatro Olimpico, Trame Sonore Mantova, Fondazione Giorgio Cini Venezia, Fabrica Research Center. He plays in a duo with pianist Maria Iaiza, devoting himself particularly to the twentieth-century repertoire and music of today. Decisive for this training were meetings with Maestros Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Canino and Claudio Ambrosini. Since 2022 he has been part of the ensemble Opificio Sonoro directed by Marco Momi, with whom he participated in the recording of the disc “Sciarrino: Chamber Music” for Brilliant Classics. He also collaborates with ensembles such as mdi ensemble in Milan and NEXT-New Ensemble Xenia Turin.
Active in the orchestral field as well, she has been playing as a sideman in collaboration with various chamber and symphony orchestras since a very young age. In the 2019/20 season, she collaborates with the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, performing in prestigious halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Nationale Opera & Ballet, and with the Nederlands Kamer Orkest at the Muziekgebouw in the Dutch capital. His professional orchestral experience, including as a sideman, includes collaborations with Blaricum Festival Orchestra under the direction of Mathieu Herzog, the Orchestra d’Archi Italiana, the Ochestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta and the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana. He also played as backing violin in the jazz project “Nights on Earth” with composer, arranger and conductor Vince Mendoza in Amsterdam. He plays a violin built by Alessandra Pedota (Cremona, 2020).
