Roberto Marini
An organist of great virtuosic and musical qualities, a refined interpreter of the Romantic, late Romantic and modern repertoire, Roberto Marini is considered by critics to be “one of the greatest organists of the present era” (Amadeus 2020).
Critics describe him as: a charismatic performer with formidable technical skills, a distinguished virtuoso and the most refined musician, highly musical, romantic and passionate, a master of the art of recording, a true natural and one of Max Reger’s most important interpreters.
He made his debut at a very young age with the most celebrated compositions of J. S. Bach, becoming a student of the great Italian organist F. Germani. He graduated in organ and organ composition with highest honors. In 1994 he was awarded the prestigious I premio di “Virtuosité “d’organo at the Geneva Conservatory (CH) under the guidance of M° L. Rogg. Alongside his musical studies R. Marini continued his classical studies by graduating in Law.
A winner of competitions, he characterizes his artistic career by performing the opera omnia of Reger and J.S. Bach. For years he has been engaged in intense concert activity, with great critical and public success, which has led him to perform in the most important Festivals in Italy and abroad.
His discography includes, in addition to that of R. Schumann, J. Brahms, the complete works for organ by Max Reger in 17 CDs, a musical event that is unprecedented in the world and has earned him unanimous recognition from the international press. He has recorded a DVD with the most important works of Liszt and Reubke, made recordings for Vatican Radio, RAI- Radio Televisione Italiana, German ARD, Spanish RTVE, and his concerts and recordings are regularly broadcast by Italian and foreign radio stations.
He recently recorded for “Brilliant Classics” a double CD, dedicated to Belgian composer Flor Peeters and a CD (Fugatto records) containing his transcription for organ of Liszt’s Sonata in B min. He holds the chair of organ and Gregorian chant at the Pescara Conservatory, of which he was for several years Deputy Director and organ teacher at the “Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome.” He is artistic director of International Organ Festivals and director of the organists’ secretariat of “Associazione Italiana Santa Cecilia.” He is titular organist of Teramo Cathedral.
