One of the most extraordinary talents I have come across. What impresses, in a special way, is the maturity of sound, the capacity for understanding and the speed of learning, which are absolutely out of the ordinary”: thus Salvatore Accardo, her teacher, reports of her. “She cannot be considered a child prodigy because she adds to her extraordinary technique the maturity of expression and phrasing of a true musician,” adds renowned pianist R. Lupu, after hearing her at a very young age. Born in Cagliari in 1986, she took up the study of the violin under the guidance of her father at the age of six. After winning, in 1994, the first prize at the Vittorio Veneto Review, with special mention of merit, in 1996 she won the Competition organized by the Società Umanitaria in Milan, with special mention of the jury, and, in 1997, the prize for the youngest winner and the prize for the best performance of Bach at the International Competition in Kloster Schontal, at the age of eleven she made her debut as soloist with the Orchestra National des Pays de la Loire for a series of concerts in France. She was then invited to the 10th International Festival “Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Rovereto” as soloist of the “Haydn” Symphony Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, with which she performed at the “Gustav Mahler” International Festival. In the same year, at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome, he won with special mention, the competition announced by the SIAE for the best students of Italian conservatories. In 1998, at age 12, he made his debut at La Scala in Milan with a performance of Max Bruch’s Concerto No. 1. In 2000, at age 14, he won first prize at the “Viotti-Valsesia” International Competition and first prize at the “Michelangelo Abbado” International Competition for Violinists. He graduated at the age of 15 from the “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina” Conservatory in Cagliari with highest honors, distinction and special mention. In 2002 she won the “Giovanni Pressenda” International Prize and the National Violin Competition in Carpi where she was also awarded the prize for the best performance of Paganini’s Capricci. She carries out an intense concert activity and collaborates with orchestras such as the Philharmonic Orchestra of Nations, the Orchestra of the “Arturo Toscanini” Foundation of Parma, the Regional Orchestra of Lazio, the Symphony Orchestra of Padua, the Abruzzo Symphony Orchestra, the “Paul Costantinescu” Philharmonic of Ploiesti, the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra of Miskolc, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Piedmont, the Chamber Orchestra of Essen, the Chamber Orchestra of Munich, the Chamber Orchestra of Prague, the Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo of Palermo. In 2004 he was awarded the diploma of honor from the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and the International Prize “Myrta Gabardi – Una vita per la musica, una musica per la vita,” as a young revelation in Italian concert performance. In December 2004, she made her debut at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari in Petr Il’ ic Tchaikovsky’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, conducted by Gèrard Korsten, bringing enormous success with audiences and critics. He has been studying with Salvatore Accardo since the age of eight and attending master classes at the “Walter Stauffer” Academy in Cremona. Last September she wonfirst prize at the “George Enescu” International Competition in Bucharest. Anna Tifu plays a Carlo Bergonzi violin (Cremona, 1739), known as “ex Mischa Piastro,” offered by the ProCanale Foundation of Milan.
