Growing in Music
The “Crescere in musica” project was born in 2007 from an initiative of the Liceo Statale “F.Corradini” of Thiene , with the aim of promoting on the one hand the practice and exercise of classical music among young people, and on the other hand to contribute to integrating the musical cultural education of students by actively involving them in the realization of a series of activities (master classes, concerts, lectures and lessons-concerts) also open to all citizens. Since 2015, the “A.Pedrollo” Conservatory of Music in Vicenza and other important music institutions in Thiene have been collaborating on the project, having established together with the Lyceum the “Pro Musica Thiene” network. As part of the educational initiatives developed in recent years, orchestral and chamber music workshops, lectures, auditions and masterclasses dedicated not only to the deepening of the Baroque and classical repertoire (from Bach’s Cantatas to the Symphonies of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert), but also of the historical 20th century (Mahler, Stravinsky, Bartók, Copland, Ives, Shostakovich) and contemporary (Bonato, Firsova, Berio, Michelon) have been born. The orchestral and chamber music workshops also offer young musicians the opportunity to meet, perfect and collaborate with distinguished performers including Julius Berger, Massimo Somenzi, Francesco Galligioni, Ulrike Hofmann, Carlo Lazari, Lorenzo Feder, Marc Daniel van Biemen, Tamàs Major, Steno Boesso, Massimiliano Tieppo, Christophe Horak; and to work alongside internationally recognized composers such as Alissa Firsova and Giovanni Bonato.
In collaboration with Lorenzo Feder, Gemma Bertagnolli, the Renaissance and Baroque Singing Class of the Vicenza Conservatory and actor and director Marco Faccin, the “Crescere in musica” project has developed a study path around Purcell’s opera, performing in semi-staged form in 2017 Dido and Aeneas, in 2018 King Arthur – whose performance at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza aroused great interest and received considerable feedback from Italian and foreign specialized critics – and in 2019 Fairy Queen. Finally, from the fall of 2019 is the participation in the staging of Gaetano Donizetti’s romantic opera Elisir d’amore at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza as part of the Vicenza in lirica festival.
Within “Crescere in musica” the association of the same name is established in 2022, formed by a group of young musicians determined to develop and expand the project’s activities, creating new educational, didactic and listening paths aimed at schools of various levels, families and all music lovers.
“Crescere in musica” has been supported by the Brazzale Group since its inception.
