ALBERTO BRAZZALE
cello and organizational director
Born in 1992 in Schio, he began studying cello at the age of seven under the guidance of Prof. Nicoletta De Vito. Since 2006 he has been a student of Prof. Stefania Cavedon at the Istituto Musicale Veneto Città di Thiene. Since 2006 he began studying with Maestro Julius Berger, under whose direction he has played in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, South Korea, the Czech Republic, in duo and in the ensemble “Cello Passionato.” Since 2011 he has regularly participated in master classes given by Julius Berger at the “Sommerakademie” of the “Mozarteum” in Salzburg, also playing as part of the “Music Circus John Cage” during the opening ceremony of the “Salzburgerfestspiele 2011”.
In 2012 he participated in “Asiagofestival Korea” in Seoul, a festival conceived and realized by Julius Berger and his wife Hyun-Jung Sung Berger. In 2013 he played in ensemble with Julius Berger as well as in duo and under the direction of Sofia Gubaidulina during the M. Rostropovich memorial concert held in Kronberg. He collaborated with the Georgian music choir “Sintonia” directed by Guliko Lomtatidze, with whom he made a CD. Throughout his career he has participated in multiple master classes of his own instrument and chamber music given by internationally renowned masters, including Konstantin Bogino, Danjulo Ishizaka, Giovanni Gnocchi, Francesco Galligioni, Ulrike Hofmann, Massimo Somenzi and Filippo Gamba. He studied with Maestro Enrico Bronzi at the Accademia Musicale di Santa Cecilia in Portogruaro, with Maestro Mario Finotti at the Conservatorio “Cesare Pollini” in Padua, and with Maestro Claudio Pasceri at the Accademia di Musica in Pinerolo.
For the past several years his focus has been mainly on chamber repertoire, particularly that for duo, trio, quartet and quintet with piano. He plays regularly with pianists Raffele Impagnatiello, Cecilia Franchini and his brother Enrico. In 2024 he participated in the International Cello Academy in Nysa, Poland, and played at the NFM in Wroclaw. of From 2013 to 2017 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the “C. Pollini” Conservatory of Padua. He has been the organizing director of Asiagofestival since 2014. He considers Julius Berger as his own Maestro and musical reference point.
